Canon PowerShot G6
The Canon PowerShot G6 has a 7.1 megapixel resolution, a 4x optical zoom, as well as a wide range of scene modes and manual controls. Even though it lacks a digital SLR body, the images shot with this camera are nothing short of outstanding. Its also one of the cheapest advanced digital cameras out there.

Olympus C-7000

Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2
The Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 is a hot favorite amongst professionals. From a feature and function point of view, its one of the best digital SLRs Ive seen. However, the build quality lacks that nice and heavy SLR feel.

Sony DSC-F828
Featuring a whopping 8 megapixel image resolution, the Sony DSC-F828 comes replete with a powerful 7X zoom lens and great camera optics. Very nice camera indeed.

Conclusion

Customer Review: 2yr old Tested and Approved!

I have two boys 5 & 2, and they love this camera. I got one for each of them so they wouldn't fight over it. It is easy to use, easy enough for a 2yr old to figure out. It's very durable. It's been dropped hard many times, and it has survived being thrown across the room! =) The add-ons to the pictures are fun and cool, and the kids love to put a viking hat on my face all the time. It holds upto 500 pictures, and uploads to the computer very easily. You just plug it into the computer and the wizard does the rest. Very easy to delete the pictures you don't want and keep the ones you do.

I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who has kids. It's a great camera to have at a playdate or a birthday party. Just let the kids do the pictures and you get some great pictures of out it. The pictures are not super quality, but they are better than the Fisher Price camera.

Get it, your kids will love it.

Customer Review: Great Value

Although the 3 yr. old certainly enjoyed the camera I found that the parents and grandparents enjoyed it even more. It got passed from person to person while the child opened more gifts. Each adult found more funtionnality to show off to the person next to them. It's been a month now and the camera is still going strong as is the child.

Customer Review: Crashed

Camera is constantly crashing when being used. we have to send ours back to the manufacturer in order to get it fixed and we only used it twice

My daughter had alot of fun with it when it is functional. Although it doesn't have the games that was on the older version.

Customer Review: A great product!

This camera is excellent. I saw some reviews that criticize the quality of the on-camera display, but my 5 year old loves this camera, and as a result, I love it too. It is very durable, sturdy and I dare say kid proof. The quality of the pics in high resolution is about as good as I expected when I consider that my daughter loves to see that her pictures are downloaded to our computer. She isn't picky about the resolution of course. This camera is a great product, an excellent learning tool for taking pictures. Depending on how you look at it the only downside to the limited on-board memory is that in hi-res it only takes about 20 pictures. The upside to this is that you don't have to download and organize that many pics. I purchased a 1MB memory card for $7.00 so now she can take pictures till her heart's content. I am glad I bought the camera, but not quite as glad as my child. Have fun!

The Digital Photography Book, Volume 1

The Digital Photography Book, Volume 1
Scott Kelby, the man who changed the "digital darkroom" forever with his groundbreaking, #1 bestselling, award-winning book The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers, now tackles the most important side of digital photography--how to take pro-quality shots using the same tricks today's top digital pros use (and it's easier than you'd think).

This entire book is written with a brilliant premise, and here’s how Scott describes it: "If you and I were out on a shoot, and you asked me, 'Hey, how do I get this flower to be in focus, but I want the background out of focus?' I wouldn't stand there and give you a lecture about aperture, exposure, and depth of field. In real life, I'd just say, 'Get out your telephoto lens, set your f/stop to f/2.8, focus on the flower, and fire away.' You d say, 'OK,' and you'd get the shot. That's what this book is all about. A book of you and I shooting, and I answer the questions, give you advice, and share the secrets I've learned just like I would with a friend, without all the technical explanations and without all the techno-photo-speak."

This isn't a book of theory—it isn't full of confusing jargon and detailed concepts: this is a book of which button to push, which setting to use, when to use them, and nearly two hundred of the most closely guarded photographic "tricks of the trade" to get you shooting dramatically better-looking, sharper, more colorful, more professional-looking photos with your digital camera every time you press the shutter button.

Here's another thing that makes this book different: each page covers just one trick, just one single concept that makes your photography better. Every time you turn the page, you'll learn another pro setting, another pro tool, another pro trick to transform your work from snapshots into gallery prints. There's never been a book like it, and if you're tired of taking shots that look "OK," and if you’re tired of looking in photography magazines and thinking, "Why don't my shots look like that?" then this is the book for you.

Customer Review: Short, sweet, and to the point

This book presents a wide variety of topics for achieving the results you want from your digital camera, point & shoot or DSLR. It is in a "just in time learning" format and helps you get the best shots possible. Get Volume 2 while you are at it!

Customer Review: good book

and a reasonable read. he even has a sense of humor. He gives you a scenario and then tells you about how to do or correct it.
